Escada was everywhere in the 1980s, with ads in all the big fashion magazines, and cordoned off in special boutiques within high-end department stores. But what I remember most about ’80s Escada was thinking it was a line of garments for grown-ups. And this was true. While most Escada looks were much too mature and sophisticated for the teenage-me, the brand’s ads always popped out and had me thinking of the got-it-all-together lady that wore those clothes.

All Escada ads originally appeared in the following magazines:

1. Vogue, September 1984.

2. Vogue, January 1989.

3. Mirabella, July 1989.

4. Vogue, February 1989.

5. Vogue, October 1986.

6. Vogue, January 1988.

7. Vogue, October 1986.

8. Vogue, February 1983.

9. Harper’s Bazaar, September 1984
