I already have most of the songs on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack. They’re on mix tapes or albums. I have a 12-inch single of the title song. Everyone thinks it’s new and then I have to figure out ways of telling them it’s so not and actually from the Pyschedelic Furs’ 1981 record, Talk Talk Talk without sounding like a total bitch.

I watched the movie again last night. I rented it at Jumbo Video along with a John Waters film they had in the “cult” section. Kevin and I watched Polyester but I waited until he left before watching Pretty in Pink. I told him I was renting it for my mom because she had never seen it.

I couldn’t pull off the Molly Ringwald thing, and I’m embarrassed that I kind of want to. I look over my shoulder, as if to check if someone is there even though I know I’m completely alone down here in the basement. And it’s not like anyone could read my mind even if there was someone standing behind me.

It’s that way everything is mixed in Andie’s bedroom. It’s like Laura Ashley, but cool somehow. I saw a shirt downtown last week, it was oversize and rayon with faded pink flowers, exactly like something Andie would wear. I tried it on and my face looked so different against the light colours. I bought a Cramps T-shirt at a different shop instead. It’s black with white graphics. I’m wearing it now.
